The Fifth grade used modeling clay to construct boats to test which shapes, not only floated, but held the most weight.  They had a great time constructing and reconstructing the boats.  Ask a fifth grader which shape held the most weight!  It was a great experience.

Interactive Science!!

The fifth graders recently completed a virtual lab utilizing the interactive science curriculum and our Smartboard.  On an adventure to medieval times, the virtual lab had students determining the possible ways to help the knights in a castle use simple machines to lift a wooden box.  Levers, pulleys and fulcrums were manipulated by the students to complete the tasks in the virtual lab.  Students enjoy the virtual labs in addition to the digital lessons.  Stay tuned for our next adventure.
